MTA Youth Day - Tuesday, June 25 2024

The Minnesota Trapshooting Association hosts a special shoot for Minnesota resident youth only on the Tuesday of the State Shoot week. Youth shooters will be provided reduced-price targets ($TBD/100 plus $4 ATA & $4 MTA daily fees), trophies, and door prizes.

In 2024, 85 youth shooters participated in the MTA Youth Day Singles Event, and 38 youth shot the Handicap competition. Congratulations to all winners and all those who had all-time high personal successes!

In 2023, 94 youth shooters participated in the MTA Youth Day & AIM Championship Singles Event. The day started off rainy but improved significantly, and 40 shooters bared the weather and shot the Handicap competition. Congratulations to all winners!

Shooters are classified by ATA's AIM age categories--Pre-Sub (11 & under), Sub-Jr (12-14), Junior (15-17), and Junior Gold (18-21). As all targets are ATA registered targets, ATA membership is required. The Minnesota Trapshooting Association provides free ATA membership for each new ATA youth shooter (aged 17 and under). Awards are given for High Gun in each age category, and 1st Place and Runner-Up team awards for each age category. Additionally, mySA uses the Lewis Classification System to award additional medals to shooters in ‘classes’ for the day, meaning everyone has a chance of taking home an award! To learn more about the Lewis system click HERE.

The Minnesota Youth Shotgun Association runs the Silent & Live Auctions during the Minnesota State Shoot, with 100% of all proceeds directed towards paying for the costs of providing free ATA membership for new youth shooters, as well as subsidizing the half-price targets not only on Monday but throughout the State Shoot week. In 2014 this cost was almost $11,000.
